A mas at the foot of the Alpilles, in the green landscape of Eygalières. The owner, attached to the region, wanted a house that could receive on a large scale: children, cousins, friends, mixed generations, and long tables. The studio came into the project from the first stone, which remains rare. That was the whole difficulty: to build new and give the impression of a place that has already been lived in.
Ménerbes stone runs across the floors, chalky, and holds the light inside. Wood takes the rest, in natural tones. In the living room, a plaster fireplace with a rounded opening was drawn for the house, extended by a long corner bench and a built-in daybed: the spirit of the 1970s, the colour of a terracotta afternoon. Four coffee tables with zellige tops stand in front, also drawn to measure. The black steel windows hold the line.
The kitchen turns around a solid oak island drawn for the room, beneath the Éliane raffia wall lights. Outside, a second kitchen shelters under a wide stone and timber canopy, its concrete elements drawn by the studio, the floor paved in Luberon stone. The garden is then divided into places to live: a yellow cabin in the shade of the pines, a pétanque court, a vegetable garden, and a lagoon-coloured concrete pool set apart. Four bedrooms, kept simple, hold the holiday-house feeling.
